How to Play Chess with Friends Online
You can start a free 3-minute chess match with a friend in under a minute — no download, and your friend doesn't need an account.
1. Open Speed Chess
Go to the Speed Chess page or pick it from the homepage. You can play as a guest — no sign-up required.
2. Challenge a friend
Before the match starts, tap Challenge a Friend. This creates a private room and a secure invitation link that works for one hour and can be accepted by one person.
3. Send the link
Use Copy Link to paste it into any chat, or Share on your phone. Keep the window open — the match starts the moment your friend accepts.
4. Your friend joins — even as a guest
Your friend sees an Accept Challenge page with your name and can join straight away as a guest, or create a free account to save results.
5. Play 3-minute blitz
Each player has 3 minutes on the clock. Checkmate your opponent or win on time. Chat during the game, then rematch or invite another friend.
6. Practise against the computer
No friend online? Play the computer on Easy, Medium or Hard to warm up.
